2000 GUINEAS 1944

The 136th winner of the 'New 2000 Guineas Stakes', held on Wednesday 17th May 1944 over the Bunbury Mile of the July Course, was Garden Path (5/1), a brown filly by Fairway out of Ranais, owned by the 17th Earl of Derby. The winner won by a head in 1 minute 39.60 secs, with a length and a half back to the third. A field of 26 runners contested the race which was worth £7500 (Equivalent to £314,300 in 2017)
